These are my interpretation of the ancient Phoenician alphabet. You can look it up. The figures are based on various mythological characters from that era. As usual, it was the letter-as-negative-space that intrigued me, and that was my point of departure. The figures were first hand drawn in pencil, sketched out and refined, and then brought into Adobe Illustrator to get the drafted final version. Bezier curves make this transition a joy. I come from the era (semi Medieval) of drafting pens, ink and paint brushes. So that’s my grounding.
