Living in the Southwestern United States offers this fascinating experience: Petroglyphs. Some are thousands of years old, or close. They are amazing in person and if you’re of even a slightly artistic bent, these will impress you on several levels. These glyphs that I’ve drawn are not copies of anything I’ve seen, or even an attempt to imitate Petroglyphs. They are spontaneous and gestural, but I know where some of the influences are coming from. And some of the influences are just simply and purely innate to the way our brains operate.
